At Home Facials with Tula

How to do a facial at home

At Home Facial with Tula

One of my favorite things to do is give myself an at-home facial. I make this a property for my skin care. I do it twice a month and my skin has been really loving it!

A couple of weeks ago, Tula sent me some product that I've been dying to try out.  My mom came to town to visit, of course, we had to try out the products so we did facials. This is actually a really fun activity to do with your mom, your girlfriends, or even your boyfriend (if he allows it).
You all already know that I love trying out new skincare. When I try new skin products, I give it two weeks to see how my skin reacts to the products. I feel like that is the perfect time frame, so I have been using Tula's products for that long. If you are not familiar with their brand, they use natural probiotics which are healthy superfoods like turmeric and all safe ingredients. That's one thing I really loved about their products. If you've read my blog before, I've talked about how my skin is sensitive. I only want to use products that are natural or for my skin type.

Here are the steps to give yourself an at-home facial:

1. Cleansing / Exfoliating:

The first step is to always cleanse your face. Tula has a great cleanser for your face.  It feels so good on your skin and also smells really good. I also like to exfoliate my skin at this time but the mask that I am going to use has exfoliating beads in it so I skip the exfoliating part when I use that mask. If you are looking for a good exfoliating face wash, I highly recommend Philosophy. That stuff is amazing and leaves your skin so clean and smooth.

2.  Steam

The next step is to steam your skin. A great way to do this is by boiling water (if you use essential oils you can add that to the water as well). You don't want it to be extremely hot, just warm, take a towel put it over your face for about 10 to 15 minutes. The heat will help to open your pores up that way you can clean all of the dirt out.

3. Extractions

Extractions would be the next step, but I tend to skip this step. I'll leave this step for my dermatologist.  I just don't know enough about it to do it on myself. I know there are tools that you can use like the BeautyBio Micro-needling which is on sale for the Nordstrom Anniversary sale.

4. Treatment Mask

This is my favorite part just because your skin is nice and prepped. This is when your face is most ready to get all of those nutrients. My favorite mask is Tula's Exfoliating Treatment Mask. That's why I said earlier I skip the exfoliating part. It already has the exfoliating beads in the mask. It might be too harsh for my skin if I did both.

Anyways, I love this mask!!! It feels amazing on my skin. It helps to detoxify and gently exfoliating your skin without stripping the essential oils. This mask has antioxidant-rich blueberry that helps to hydrate and improve your skin. You leave it on for about 5 minutes and trust me your face is going to feel so clean and smooth after using it!

5. Hydrate & Moisturize

After your treatment mask, this is the best time to really hydrate your skin. You want to treat and tone it. First, I put Tula's Aqua Infused Gel, it literally feels like a glass of water for your skin. Sometimes, I'll do the rose oil from Trader Joe's which is another product that I love. Then, I'll put Tula's Aqua Infusion Power Liquid serum which helps to hydrate and plump your skin. This is when I tone my face. I use Tula's Pro-Glycolic Resurfacing gel which is an alcohol-free toner that will leave your skin to look smoother. Also, get rid of your wrinkles and fine lines.

Finally, this is when you moisturize your skin. You want to apply a thick layer of moisturizer all over your face and neck. Be sure to really rub it into your skin. You want your skin to absorb the moisturizer. My current favorite is Mario Badescu Chamomile Night Cream but Tula has an amazing hydrating moisturizer as well. I like how you can use the same cream for day and night, but Mario Badescu is only for the night.
